[Closed] Joomdle not showing in Components menu was created by Doug
I just installed Joomdle r0.8 in a Joomla 2.5.6 site. Everything shows to have loaded properly but I cannot see Joomdle in the components menu and there is no dashboard. I can see the Joomdle component in the extension manager and it shows that it is enabled. When I refresh the cache I receive the following.
Failed loading XML file
path to mysite/administrator/components/com_joomdle/joomdle.xml

Did you check read/write permissions in Joomla?
It seems the component was not installed, so I would verify the permissions and will try again.

I am logged in as super admin and everything in directory permissions is set to writable. I successfully uploaded Kunena just after Joomdle. Everything seems to work for Kunena, at least it shows in the components menu. Also, it shows that everything for Joomdle is installed but it does not appear in the components menu.

Did you install the right Joomdle version ?
There are 2 versions, one for 1.5 and other for 1.7/2.5

It is the one for 2.5. I just installed a second installation of Joomla 2.5.6 in a separate folder, loaded Joomdle to it and everything is working. The only difference between the two Joomla installations is that they area installed on different domains. Both are on the same server and both were installed today using QuickInstall. I uninstalled the first Joomla installation and reinstalled it but have the same issue.

It's really strange. Try to install a zip file from the Joomla site instead a Quickinstall.

Thanks for the help Fernando. Once you said to try a manual install, I remembered that I had once manually installed a Joomla site to that location. The uninstall from QuickInstall did not remove the files from a previous manual instal. Apparently the new install was getting confused so I had to manually find and remove those files and folders. Once those were removed, I installed a new Joomla site and uploaded the Joomdle files. I now see it in the components menu.

The reason could be the menu item id 1 as mentioned over here, I was also getting the same error then followed the steps mentioned in the article
