Login long lead time was created by rob
Hi Guys,
hope you can kindly help me.

I recently took over the management of a web site realised by someone else, the web site uses at the moment joomdle 0.95 to connect joomla 2.5.28 and moodle 2.6.0

The problem I found is as follows:

When joomdle is activated in joomla the login time from the site front-end is up to 90 seconds
When Joomdle is deactivated in joomla the login time from the site front-end is on average 9 seconds

1) Is this a normal behaviour for joomdle or not ?
2) If this is not a normal behaviour could someone address my in the right direction to solve this issue ?
3) Will upgrading to joomdle 1.0.1 solve this issue ?

Thanks a lot for your kind support

It should not take that long. However, it is normal that it takes a bit longer, as it has to do more things.

You cannot upgrade unless you upgrade to Joomla 3.

Are Joomla and Moodle on the same server? If not, a slow connection between them could be the issue.

Thanks Antonio,

yes I understand that using joomdle should take longer to login due to the checks and controls and passing through information between joomla and moodle, however 90 seconds seems to long to me. Isn't it ?

As for your question joomla and moodle are on the same server. Moodle is installed in a joomla subfolder.

Any further suggestion is very much appreciated.

Bye

Well, I guess I would just debug the code, trying to find where it is taking so long.
Joomdle plugin to look at is joomdlehooks.

Also, when you say "Joomdle activated": do yo have more plugins/modules enabled? The more things you have, the longer it will take to load.

Thanks Antonio,

I'll try your suggestion and 'll let you know.

Of course the site has other modules and plugins do you need a list of them to provide more suggestions ?

Thanks

Well, you can disable any joomdle modules you may have, to see if that is taking more time than login.
Other modules should not matter, as they load when joomdle is disabled too.

Since you are seeing a great difference when Joomdle is disabled / enabled, I would look to see what else is happening when joomdle is enabled. Eg. Have you integrated VM, EasySocial, etc. How long does it take if you log in directly to Moodle?

Thanks Chris for your advice,
I am back with few new info, after running some tests the following error is showing:

mod_fcgid: can't apply process slot for /var/www/php-fcgi-scripts/mywebsite/php-5-fcgi-starter

Have you any advise on this?

Thank you very much for your kind help.

I don't know if this error could be related to the site being slow, you should ask your hosting provider, as it is not a joomdle-related error.

Also: what page is load after login? is it Jomsocial home?

Antonio,

thank for your kind comment.

The above mentioned error (and the associate 1'20" login lead time) arises when Joomdle is enable and a Registered (Joomla) user logs in.
The error (and the associate 1'20" login lead time) does NOT arise for Super Users (Joomla) when Joomdle is enable. Being this the case time to login is 9" on average
The error does NOT arise when Joomdle is disable. Being this the case time to login is 9" on average for all type of users
The error also arise when a new user register from frontend.

The site has not Jomsocial, I have integrate VM2.

Already opened a ticket with hosting provider: they say that is joomdle that exhausts server resources

Any advice?
Is it possible that I am missing something in joomdle configuration ? System Health Check shows all green.

Thanks for your kind support.
